Paul Ewoldt, president of AHSA NSW is in communication with Australia Post and we understand that there will be an issue of postage stamps to commemorate the centenaary
RAAF is apparently considering a quick round Australia flight in a E-18G Growler; in 1774 an F111 did this to celebrate the 50 years anniversary
Tony Coleiro of NSW AHSA is working on pilot information about the various stops in the journey, and this will appear in the overall narrative of the flight and eventually as a pilot handbook, He did this for the 2014 Guillaux flight and the 2019 Smith trans-Australia celebration
More news to come when I get time to write it up!
Tom
G'day aviators,
Just a quick update regarding the 100th around Australia Centenary flight.
There's been a lot happening in the background,
Tom Lockey is constantly updating his document regarding the history of the first flight,
Anthony Coleiro is working on a list of possible landing options and airport information and fees.
Michael Smith has produced a map and proposed itinerary is also confirm that he is happy to have other aircraft following him from destination to destination, but stresses that he is not a tour guide.
I have also been busy looking at possible charities to support, would love to do the Make-A-Wish foundation again however there are too many hurdles in the road, so I am now looking at EAA Young Eagles flights. Cathy Babis who will be joining me on the trip is very excited about possibly being the first female to fly a seaplane around Australia. We are looking at possible sponsorship. I'm also hoping to have a logo shortly for our clockwise expedition. Work continues on a Google overlay of our clockwise expedition! Sorry Tasmania.
Some interesting news is that Australia Post is looking at recreating a postage stamp and the RAAF is also looking at doing another quick lap around as they did it 50 years ago in the F111.
I'm hoping in the next couple weeks to organise a Skype meeting with everyone, and I am working on an agenda if you have any think you would like to add to the agenda please let me know, I will send out a zoom invitation shortly.
Don't forget our webpage www.100asa.com.au and thanks everyone who has already logged on to the new forum site.
My favourite saying of the week is:
Do not follow where a path may lead, go instead where there is no path, and leave a trail.
