Some safety items you may wish to consider Taking on the round Australia trip.
A spare phone charged and sealed in a waterproof bag container (Telstra sim)
Obviously first-aid kit
Flares
Insect repellent (yes this is safety equipment)
Tools and Spares
A can of puncture repair
Spot/Garmin tracking device
Extra water and emergency provisions
Good quality rope and tie-down pegs
I'm sure I've missed a few items so please feel free to add to this list.
G'day Rohan Whittington has asked me to add:
Hand held VHF aviation radio
Hand held marine radio
Talking about marine radios I've been flying seaplanes for over 10 plus years, and I have accumulated 1100 plus hours in seaplanes. Not once have I ever needed to use a marine radio. I used to carry a small hand held Marine Radio but they are useless unless you can wire them into your headset and also have them powered by the aircraft, otherwise when you will want to use it the batteries will be flat.
Don't get me wrong I'm not against having a marine radio but when you are looking at keeping things light all these little things add up.
I guess I'm keen to hear of anybody else has used a marine radio when flying ore on the water?
Cheers David
